Some of the greats have won what is now the world's richest greyhound race, the Melbourne Cup, and they include Acclaim Star in 1979 and Light of Fire in 1994.

ROANOKEE

Roanokee was one of the super sprinters of his era and won numerous feature races including three G1 events - one of those was the 1997 Melbourne Cup

1982 MELBOURNE CUP

The field that was assembled for the 1982 renewal of the Melbourne Cup was a star-studded line-up and included the likes of NSW stars Gwendalyn Bale and Winifred Bale

Black Top and Zoom Top have etched their name in the history books as two of the greatest ever chasers to ever race in Australia.

WINE GLASS

In 1997, what is now known as the Brisbane Cup, went by the name of the G1 Eukanuba Cup and a terrific field faced the starter at Albion Park.

1994 BORDER PARK GALAXY

The now defunct Tweed Heads greyhound track was synonomous with the running each year of the Border Park Galaxy which always attracted some of Australia's best sprinters.

1980 TRUSTY CUP HURDLE

Hurdle racing was always a great spectacle and the crowds would flock to see some of the best jumper's do battle at tracks all around the nation.

1984 NATIONAL SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP

Busy Vintage was one of the top chasers to emerge form the Apple Isle in the 1980's and he proved how good he was when victorious in the 1984 National Sprint Championship at Harold Park.

1982 NATIONAL DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

The 1982 National Distance Championship will go down in history as one of the most defining for the Australian breeding landscape.
